I am fortunate to have a solid background that focused on design, communications and the technical aspects of colour. These professional careers and my art & design university education has had a hand in preparing me for my life as an artist. Additionally, however, those experiences were amply supported by my earlier life on a large dairy farm in Ontario, where responsibilities were endless, land was vast, animals stole my heart and nature fed my soul.
When the longing to make art became strong and impossible to ignore, the time I'd begun to carve out for the tactile experience of drawing & painting soon evolved into moving to the Okanagan and opening my studio. My art making journey has been propelled by passion, desire, and a longing to create.
Over the years I have developed my studio practice by consistently studying, practicing and working, always eager to learn, always pushing myself beyond my comfort zone in order to discover or master new techniques that are authentic to me. I have realized that art is a journey and my initial way of making paintings has morphed into immersing myself into the creative process of making art.
I am thrilled that my paintings are collected across Canada, Holland, the UK & the US and have received a number of awards recently. You can see my work at upcoming exhibits, visit my studio or see details of a painting you like with a virtual visit. Just email me! firstname.lastname@example.org
My experience of living & creating art in the Okanagan has directly influenced my creative process.
